Richard K. Zuckerman, Esq. was the moderator of a Panel on the topic “Uniformed Services” at a CLE entitled “Public Sector Labor and Employment Developments Since the Pandemic Began.” This CLE was sponsored by the NYS Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section and was held on June 10, 2022, from at 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Crown Plaza Albany – The Desmond Hotel, 660 Albany Shaker Road, Albany, New York. The Panel discussed new laws and court and administrative agency decisions impacting New York’s Uniformed Services, including the aftermath to Civil Rights Law Section 50-a’s rescission, and updates regarding General Municipal Law Sections 207-a and 207-c, COVID and ARPA-related issues, as well as court review of disciplinary determinations and two new decisions upholding the termination for excessive absenteeism of employees enjoying Section 207-c status. Other topics that were covered during the program were The Intersection of Education and Labor and Employment Law, NYS Public Employment Relations Board (PERB), Court of Appeals Roundup, and Key Aspects of the Labor Arbitration Process.
