Alyssa Zuckerman is a Partner whose practice focuses on representing employers in both the public and private sectors in labor, employment and education law matters. She has experience in public and private sector collective bargaining, grievance arbitrations, interest arbitrations, employee disciplinary proceedings, unemployment insurance hearings and matters before the New York State Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

 

She also provides trainings on, among other topics, the prevention of sexual and other types of harassment and discrimination; analyzing COVID-19-related leave of absence requests; handling employee performance, discipline and discharge issues; and addressing employees’ requests for other leaves of absence and workplace accommodations. She is admitted to the New York State Bar.

 

Alyssa has been named a New York Super Lawyers® Rising Star for Employment and Labor for 2018-2020 and was listed in Super Lawyers®’ “New York Metro Rising Stars/The Top Women.” She has presented for the New York State Bar Association (“NYSBA”) on the topics of “Social Media and Public Sector for Labor & Employment Law” and “The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s New Guidance on Retaliation: What’s New, What’s Different, and What’s an Employer To Do?” and as a speaker in a webinar for the NYSBA on “Managing Your Essential and Non-Essential Municipal Workforce During the COVID-19 Pandemic”; NYSBA 2020 “Hey Dinosaurs – 2020 Called”’ NYSBA, Local and State Government Law Section 75th Anniversary Fall Meeting “Achieving “Zoom-baya”; NYSBA 2020 Annual meeting speech as well as multiple webinars presented by the Firm on the same topic.  Alyssa has also presented on “Navigating Labor Relations with Benefits of Hindsight in the Modern Age” for the Nassau and Suffolk Academies of Law and Education Law Committees 2019 Annual School Law Conference, “Social Media and the Workplace: Labor and Employment Legal Issues,” at Cardozo Law School and on  “Free Speech in the Public Sector – What Public Employees Can and Cannot Say,” “The New York State Paid Family Leave Law” and “Addressing Safety and Emergency Issues in the Public Sector” for the Long Island Labor and Employment Relations Association (“LI LERA”). Alyssa currently serves as the Executive Vice President of the FDNY Firefighter John F. McNamara Foundation (also known as “The Johnny Mac Foundation”); on the Board of Directors of the St. John’s Law School Alumni Association; on the Board of Advisors for the St. John’s Law School’s Center for Labor and Employment Law; on the LI LERA Executive Board as its 1st Vice President; on NYSBA’s Leadership Development Committee; and on the Executive Committee of the NYSBA Labor and Employment Law Section as a Chair of the Membership Engagement Committee. She is also a member of the American Bar Association.

Alyssa received her law degree from St. John’s University and her undergraduate degree from New York University.
