New York Paid Leave for COVID-19 Vaccinations Extended

KEEPING YOU INFORMED…

We are writing to advise you that Governor Hochul recently signed legislation extending the laws requiring private and public sector employers to grant paid time off for employees to receive COVID-19 vaccinations (including booster shots) until December 31, 2023.

As a reminder, the laws require employers to provide an excused and paid leave of absence for employees to receive COVID-19 vaccinations for a “sufficient period of time,” with a maximum of four hours per vaccine injection. Please see our March 16, 2021; May 7, 2021; and October 29, 2021 memoranda on this topic for more information about the laws’ requirements and implementing guidance.

If you have any questions regarding the extension of these laws or its impact on your workplace, please contact Alyssa L. Zuckerman (alz@lambbarnosky.com) or one of our other attorneys at 631-694-2300.

THIS MEMORANDUM IS MEANT TO ASSIST IN GENERAL UNDERSTANDING OF THE CURRENT LAW. IT IS NOT TO BE REGARDED AS LEGAL ADVICE. THOSE WITH PARTICULAR QUESTIONS SHOULD SEEK THE ADVICE OF COUNSEL.
