Client memo re Temporary Retirement Incentive For New York City Employees

KEEPING YOU INFORMED…

You may have heard that this year’s State budget includes a temporary early retirement incentive. We are writing to let you know that this incentive only applies for employees of New York City and the New York City Board of Education (which is known as “the Department of Education”). Notwithstanding other legislation that has been proposed, this incentive does not apply to employees of any other school district or of any other public employer.

We will let you know if more generally applicable retirement incentive legislation is adopted. In the meantime, you should plan your budgets and staffing needs accordingly.

If you have any questions regarding the retirement incentive, please contact Adam S. Ross (asr@lambbarnosky.com) or one of our other attorneys at 631-694-2300.

THIS MEMORANDUM IS MEANT TO ASSIST IN GENERAL UNDERSTANDING OF THE CURRENT LAW. IT IS NOT TO BE REGARDED AS LEGAL ADVICE. THOSE WITH PARTICULAR QUESTIONS SHOULD SEEK THE ADVICE OF COUNSEL.
