A graduate of Brooklyn College magna cum laude with honors in psychology and a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, Virginia Wylly obtained a juris doctorate from Brooklyn Law School in 1982. She began her legal career as attorney-advisor for the U.S. Small Business Administration ("SBA") in Manhattan, where she helped administer agency programs, closed and disbursed commercial loans, and served as advocate for small business. In addition to her position as attorney-advisor, Ms. Wylly was also appointed Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York in which capacity she collected defaulted loans for SBA. In 1993, Ms. Wylly became Branch Counsel of SBA's Melville office, where she worked until April 2005, once again delivering SBA's programs to the public. For her work on behalf of small business on Long Island, Ms. Wylly is the recipient of commendations and awards from Long Island Development Corporation, SBA, Senator Charles Schumer, and the County Executives for Nassau and Suffolk.
